HUSHH-UPS® - Parents

Your children spend the better part of 12-14 years of their lives in a classroom. The process of learning is a long and often difficult task. We all want to make this process as easy and as rewarding for our children as possible.

Attention - the ability to focus and concentrate – is an important component in effective learning. This skill is influenced by many factors. One key factor is noise within the classroom. The sound created by chairs scraping on uncarpeted floors is a major source of distraction. The level of this noise is louder than the teacher’s voice. Many studies have confirmed that children have a more difficult time listening and learning when a high level of background noise is present.

Children who may have additional challenges to learning such as students with central auditory processing problems, hearing impairments, behavioural and attentional problems, speech and language disorders, learning disabilities, English as a second language, PDD-Autism or developmental delays have an even more difficult job coping within noisy environments.

In a classroom outfitted with Hushh-ups® the chair noise drops to a barely audible level. The difference is dramatic. The environment is much quieter and conducive to more effective learning. It makes school life easier and more productive for the children and their teachers.
