FOUNDERS Sound Listening Environments, Inc. (SLE) was founded by
Patricia Bilyk Szagala (
biography
) and Margaret Woolfrey
(
biography
), both registered
Speech - Language Pathologists. Each holds a Masters degree and together
they have over 40 years experience working with children who suffer from
a wide range of communication disorders, including hearing impairment.
Initially, SLE was born from a need to improve the
learning environment for all students but in particular, for those
challenged by hearing difficulties. With an increasingly active classroom
setting combined with a move to eliminate carpeting from school floors,
the overall noise level in classrooms was on the rise. The founders sought
to resolve this issue by providing easy access to a safe, ready-to-use
solution. In 1997 the founders launched the
Sound Listening Environments company and its flagship product –
Hushh-ups®.
Since their introduction, Hushh-ups®
continue to bring peace to
classrooms across the country. The company founders remain committed to
providing every child with the best listening environment for learning. |
